Brief Overview
Vor'lx Taruk serves as a Commander aboard the Bravado and leads a flight group known as Mynock Squadron. Although Lx intended to follow in his father's footsteps and design ships, he became a bounty hunter as a result of his father's murder. He now serves the Rebel Alliance in the hope that the Empire can be defeated and he can find his captured teammate, Binkawa.
Early Years
Vor'lx was born on one of the orbiting cities above Duro to Rhanis (father) and Ella (mother) Taruk. Rhanis Taruk was a successful ship designer, and as a result Vor'lx led a privileged life. As a child, Lx always dreamed of designing ships with his father. To prepare for this profession, Lx studied under his father and at a prestigious engineering academy on Duro. During his time at the academy, Lx excelled at his studies. He was on par for graduating at the top of his class. Lx also led an active social life and was considered by many to be a bit of a class clown. Lx never completed his education at the academy because he dropped out two years before graduation due to the death of his father.
Dark Years
Rhanis Taruk was murdered by a drunk Aqualish when Lx was 20 years old. The murder occurred as Rhanis was coming home from work. Rhanis noticed an Aqualish attempting to mug a Duros women, and he tried to interfere. The Aqualish stabbed Rhanis and ran away. Rhanis had already died by the time Lx arrived at the hospital, and this left Lx bitter for several years. The police on Duro told Lx and his mother that there wasn't enough evidence to pursue the murderer, so Lx decided to take matters into his own hand.
Because his father was a very successful ship designer, Lx and his mother were left with a great deal of money. Lx used this money to help him track down his father's killer. For the first time in his life, Lx was exposed to the seedy underbelly of the galaxy. He quickly learned that money could get you just about anything, including information. Lx learned that the Aqualish who murdered his father was part of a local gang. Instead of taking this information to the police, Lx dealt with the problem on his own.
Using more of his father's money, Lx bought a blaster pistol and tracked down the Aqualish. When the Aqualish was away from the rest of the gang members, Lx shot and killed him. The feelings of closure and relief that Lx had expected never came. Instead he was left still hollow from the death of his father and now a murderer.
Bounty Hunter
Lx soon decided to leave Duro and give up his dream of building ships. He felt that the galaxy was calling him to do something else with his life. Lx realized that the gang on Duro was just a very small part of the crime world that existed throughout the galaxy. With a little more training, perhaps he could do something about it, and get paid for it.
Lx applied to the bounty Hunter Guild at the age of 21, but it wasn't until he was 23 that he got accepted. During those two years, Lx carried out various odd-job tasks to prove to the guild that he was worthy of membership. During this time, Lx met Binkawa. Binkawa was a young Wookie who was also applying for membership into the Guild. Lx and Binkawa wnet on several missions together, and they quickly became friends. they also learned during this time that missions went a lot smoother when two people were working on them. They decided to partner up and split their bounties.
At the age of 23, Lx was officially made a Bounty Hunter. Binkawa was also granted membership to the guild at the same time. The two had managed to save up a small sum of money from the various missions, which was enough to buy them a small junker of a ship. It turned out that Binkawa had a love for ships as well, and as the two made more money, they managed to make their ship into a respectable craft.
Lx and Binkawa tried to stick to bounties posted for guilty individuals. Working together, they managed to be fairly successful. Still affected by the death of his father, Lx showed a darker side when on missions, and had no problems with killing when the situation called for it. Binkawa was sometimes troubled by this fact, but he Lx had once told him what had happened to him. Binkawa decided it was better for Lx to unleash his anger on those who deserved it then to bottle it up and one day explode.
Alliance
After 13 years of bounty hunting, Lx and Binkawa were granted access to some of the more prestigious bounties. One such bounty was placed on an Imperial officer who had crossed Jabba the Hutt. This Imperial officer was causing trouble with some of Jabba's smugglers, going so far as to cause one to dump his cargo. Jabba decided it was time to put an end to this.
Lx and Binkawa quickly took up this bounty, neither one had any love for the Empire. Besides, this bounty would give them some much needed prestige within the guild. during this mission, Lx and Binkawa worked alongside two Jedi, Cairo and Pecha. It was also during this mission that they barely escaped Alderaan before it was destroyed by the Empire. Despite all of the obstacles, the two were successful in both finding and killing the Imperial officer.
When Lx and Binkawa brought the dead officer to Jabba, he had them thrown into holding cells for not completing the mission discreetly enough. They were to be executed along with their new friends. The group escaped Jabba's palace and eventually made their way to the Alliance, with which Cairo and Pecha already worked with.
This is when Lx and Binkawa took on their first mission with the Alliance. There was an Imperial base nearby that the Alliance needed to be dealt with. The group was successful in their mission, and the Alliance offered Lx and Binkawa to join them. Lx and Binkawa agreed that this would be the best course of action because they had a price on their heads for Jabba, they had a price on their heads from the Empire, and the Alliance was willing to pay.
They did various small missions for the Alliance, usually utilizing their connections with the underworld. Lx didn't completely commit to the Alliance until his best friend, Binkawa was captured. A bounty hunter had come to collect on the bounty placed on their heads, but thanks to Binkawa sacrificing his own freedom, Lx was able to get away. When Binkawa was handed over to the Empire, they deemed that selling him into slavery, a Wookie's worse fear, would be a more suitable punishment than death.
Lx completely joined the Alliance after this, as his hatred for the Empire had increased greatly. He also believed the Alliance to be his best chance of ever finding his friend again since the Alliance had good relations with the Wookies, and the Alliance freed Wookie slaves from time to time.
It was around this time that Lx purchased his P-38, Wroshyr's Vengeance, named in honor of Binkawa. Lx was assigned to a flight, and his skills as a pilot quickly distinguished him. During a mission where his flight's leader was killed, Lx took control and led his flight to complete the mission successfully with no more losses. He was promoted to Lieutenant after that battle.
Lx is now assigned to the Bravado, and is being considered for a promotion to Captain.
